Weekend Lunchbox

Hutto Discovery UMC is proud to lead the community's Weekend Lunchbox program, which aims to provide nutritious, shelf-stable, and easy-to-prepare food for children in food-insecure households within Hutto ISD. This collaborative community initiative focuses on combating hunger on weekends and holidays among students identified as homeless according to the federal McKinney-Vento Act guidelines.

Donations Welcome
We are currently collecting specific items to directly benefit our Weekend Lunchbox program. While brand preferences aren't strict, we do have requirements for the contents, size, and form of the donations. We are looking for pre-packaged, individual, single-serving sizes of the following items.  Donations can be placed in the WELB bin located in our Discovery Center at 350 Ed Schmidt Blvd.

  • GREATEST NEED:  Canned tuna fish (5 oz.)
  • GREATEST NEED:  Vienna sausages, regular flavor (4.6 oz.)
  • Ramen noodle packets, chicken flavor (3 oz.)
  • Easy mac and cheese bowls (2.05 oz.)
  • Instant oatmeal packets, any flavor (1.5 oz.)
  • Cereal fun pack boxes, cups, or packets, any flavor (about 1 oz.)
  • Green bean cups (4 oz.)
  • Mandarin oranges fruit bowl cups (4 oz.)

​Any donations that don't meet the Weekend Lunchbox Program's specific criteria will be gratefully donated to the Hutto Resource Center, our community's food pantry.  Thank you for your support!
