New Hire: Kyren Schultz

For the last few months, your Administrative Council, Staff/Parish Relationship Committee, Finance Committee, and myself have been in prayer, discussion, and discernment to assess and understand the needs of our growing congregation and community and how we might staff for those needs. We knew we needed someone of high character and high capacity that could fit right into the life of the church and help us reach our potential.

​We believe we have found that person!
So, it is with great joy that I get to announce to you the arrival of our newest member of the Hutto Discovery team, Kyren Schultz!
 
Kyren will be coming to us from St. Philip’s United Methodist Church where she has been serving for almost a decade. She has previously served as their Children’s Ministry Director and is currently their Director of Spiritual Growth. 
She is a Master of Divinity student at Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO., and she is in the process for ordination in the United Methodist Church. This means that there is potential for our Bishop and District Superintendent to have Kyren officially appointed here as an Associate Pastor! Those conversations have already begun, and we are prayerfully hopeful for that outcome.
 
Kyren will be joining us Aug ust 27 to lead us in our discipleship. This means that she will bring her gifts and passion for ministry to help us succeed in growing ministries with children, youth, and adults as we seek to follow Christ, grow in faith, and serve one another and our community in love.

There will be updates and additional communication in the days and weeks ahead to help you get to know Kyren and her role at Hutto Discovery, but for now, she wanted to share this quick message with you:

Hi! I'm Kyren Schultz, a native of (south) Austin, Texas. My husband, Joel Wise, and I have been married for 17 years in July and have a blended family with four beautiful children! Our oldest son, Drew and his wife live at Elgin AFB (he's in the Army going to EOD school), our oldest daughter, Vanna, her husband and two precious children live in Dripping Springs and our 13 year old blessings, Sam and Thea, live with us in Round Rock!
I am overjoyed to be joining Hutto Discovery! I have a heart for missions and outreach, along with a deep desire to study the word of God. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, walking our dog, camping with our family, and listening to Podcasts.
 
I am praying for you and the church as we transition into this new season! Looking forward to serving with you soon! 

I am so excited to welcome Kyren to this church that we all know and love. I am excited for you to bless her and her family as you have blessed mine and so many others. I am excited for her to bless you! She is an incredible woman of God and a gifted minister of the gospel, and her witness will bless us immensely.
 
A big thank you is owed to Kathryn Johnson and the SPR team for their work in the discernment process, and their continued work as we get ready to welcome Kyren and her family to Hutto Discovery.
 
For now, as we share in the excitement of this good news, I want to ask you to commit yourselves to prayer for Kyren and her family as they finish their final days at St. Philip's and prepare for life and ministry at Hutto Discovery. And be in prayer for this church as we continue to seek God in all that we do today and in the days ahead!​
