Mark 8:1-21
In Mark 8:1-21 we learn about how the disciples witnessed Jesus feed thousands of people more than once, and yet they are still worried about how they will have enough to eat with only one loaf of bread. How can someone who has witnessed Jesus provide miracle after miracle be so short on faith in his ability to provide for his followers?

It’s actually easier than you think. At one point in my young adult life I thought my faith was unshakable. I was in the groove with my Christianity and had seen God do amazing things in our church youth group, while on mission trips, and even in the small group I helped lead. However, over a three-year period in which my wife and I struggled with infertility I went from “My God is a mighty God” man of faith to about as unenthusiastic about God as you can be. I was even angry with him at times.
The good news is that we serve a God who feeds thousands with almost nothing and shares an abundance of grace and love with his people. He lifts us up out of despair and gives us a new song to sing. Jesus continues to teach his disciples even though they don’t understand, yet.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for setting my feet on solid ground and steadying me as I walked along. Thank you for always reminding us of your faithfulness and unfailing love. Please help us share your unconditional love with all those we encounter. Amen.
