Mark 1:1-15
This past year has been filled with so many hard things. We have been faced with difficult times. Many of us have been isolated from our friends and family. We have missed milestones and birthdays and we have missed the company of so many friends. It has been difficult. Everyone deals with difficult times in different ways.

We have missed milestones and birthdays and we have missed the company of so many friends. It has been difficult. Everyone deals with difficult times in different ways.
Oftentimes we seek the easy way out. Yet when Jesus found himself in a difficult situation being tempted in the wilderness for forty days, he did not seek the easy way out. He sought his Father’s voice. When God called, Jesus answered. Even as Jesus asked if there was another way, an easier way, he obeyed. The only way out was to journey through; through the torture of the Roman guards; through the incalculable weight of the sin of the world on his sinless shoulders; through the wooden cross and the nails in his body onto death and into glory. This was not the easy way out.
For many of us we feel so alone. We feel like we fight our battles in solitude, but we must remember we are not alone. God is with us through this journey, we are not alone. Rather than dwell on these difficulties, during this Lenten season we are invited to listen closely for the voice of God and remind ourselves that we are never alone.
Lent is a wonderful time for personal reflection. During the Lenten Season take time to reflect on the gifts God has given you to make a difference in the lives of others.
