Mark 10:32-45
Holy Father we thank you for the stories and the parables that we can't fully understand. The disciples were completely confused by the word that Jesus was telling them, yet they followed him. The disciples loved Jesus so much that they would accept and follow him even though they didn't understand. In this time of uncertainty we are all a little lost and looking for clarity in God’s word. Like the disciples we are all lost and need to listen more closely to the Lord and his words. Jesus was a servant in the respect that he, himself, gave his life for us all. Help us be better servants by helping, listening, and sharing God’s word. Help us to read, listen, and hear the message louder than the worry or loss we might feel.  Help us to remember the sacrifice that Jesus’ life has meant to the world. In your son, Jesus name.  Amen.

Mark 10:46- 11:11
Everything that has happened lately in the world has me sometimes feeling hopeless. This hopelessness makes it hard to see whether I can really make a difference in this world. This chapter in Mark really spoke to me. Bartimaeus was blind and had never actually seen any of the miracles that Jesus did. He simply had faith.  Faith so strong that even though others were trying to dismiss him he didn't give up. Because of that faith he was healed. Not only did his faith help him to see but it also showed others how important faith is. I have faith in God that especially in the darkest of times that he is always there for us to lean on. I hope that by showing the love and grace to others that God gave me that in some small way I can make a difference.

Mark 11:12-26

I love when Jesus talks about fruit. This short little story about Jesus and the fig tree seems a little random and might leave the reader wondering if Jesus was just “hangry” (hungry and angry). At the same time it can lead us to look at ourselves and ask if we are bearing fruit. Are we growing in healthy ways? Are we cultivating meaningful, healthy relationships? Are we taking care of ourselves? Are we making time to pray? Do they know we are Christians by our love? When we create a healthy and thriving environment for ourselves, our lives will bloom and grow fruit, not only for ourselves but for those around us. May we strive to bear fruit, but may we be patient as we grow.

Mark 11:27-12:12
Dear Lord,
Here I am,
Palms up, empty of Hope
Grasping at the last straws of Joy.
Empty.
For the joy within me has died.
And hope cannot be found.
But even though the fig trees bears no fruit,
And the olive bears no oil,
His Joy is my strength.
And He rejoices at me,
He rejoices with me.
And therefore, I will find His strength to rejoice in Him.
And lean on His Hope until I find mine.
Amen.

Mark 12:13-27
Lord, you are my foundation, my life.
I speak to you often, my faith is renewed.
Lord, you know my sins, I seek your forgiveness.
Call me, guide me, show me the way.
You are the Lord my God, Creator, Redeemer.
I praise you, I love you, I answer your call.
Amen.
